How to choose costume weapons

A prop finishes a character. Start with the costume you are wearing, then pick the weapon or armor piece that goes with it. A matching prop also helps people recognize your character in photos. All products in this collection are costume props, made for costume use only. The range covers horror, gaming, movie and classic costume looks.

Props by character

  • Horror: knives tied to Ghostface from Scream and Michael Myers from Halloween, plus Freddy and Hellraiser pieces.
  • Games: Halo energy swords and blasters, Minecraft swords and pickaxes, and Link's shield, sword and bow set from The Legend of Zelda.
  • Movies and comics: Star Wars lightsabers and blasters, Captain America shields, Thor's Stormbreaker, Wolverine Claws, Spider-Man webshooters and Transformers swords and blasters.
  • Kids favorites: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles weapons, Lego Ninjago swords, Power Rangers helmets and kids Minecraft swords.

Props by costume type

Pirates need a hook and a sword. Knights and Romans need a broadsword, a shield and a helmet, and there is Gold Wash Roman Armor for a full soldier look. Ninjas can choose a katana, a ninja weapon backpack or a full ninja weapon set. Grim reapers and devils look right with a scythe or pitchfork. See pirate costumes and renaissance and medieval costumes to build the full outfit.

Foam, plastic or rubber

Many props are foam, such as the foam machete, foam axe and foam sledgehammer. Others are plastic or rubber. Check the product title and description for the material and length before you buy. Foam props are light to carry all night. Longer props like the 60 inch scythe or a pitchfork make a bigger statement but take more room at a crowded party.

Check the rules before you go

Schools, offices, conventions and venues often have their own rules on prop weapons, especially props that look real. Check those rules before you bring a prop to an event. Carry props in a bag when you travel to and from a party, and keep them pointed down in public. For scary looks built around a prop, browse horror movie costumes.
