How to choose hanging Halloween props

Hanging props use space that most decorations leave empty. Pick a spot first, like a porch ceiling, a doorway or a tree branch, then choose a prop that fits the height you have. The product title and page list the length. Sunstar makes most of the props in this collection.

Pick a character

• Reapers: the largest group, with shaking, talking, light-up, winged and chained reapers, plus reapers on swings and in cages.

Animated, light-up or static

Animated props shake, kick, spin or talk. Light-up props glow after dark. Static props need nothing but a hook. Hang it securely

Larger props are heavier, so use a hook or anchor that can hold the weight. Hang props above head height on walkways so guests do not walk into them, and keep cords clear of foot traffic. If a prop is going outside, check the product page to see if it is meant for outdoor use. Take props down or bring them in during bad weather.

Build the scene

Hanging props work best with something on the ground below them, so the scene fills the space from top to bottom.
