Nativity & Christmas Pageant Costumes

How to plan nativity costumes for a Christmas pageant

Start with your cast list, then fill each role with a costume or a few key pieces. Most nativity characters are recognized by one or two details, like wings for an angel, a crook for a shepherd, or a long beard for a wise man or Joseph, so this collection focuses on those pieces.

Angels for kids and adults

Kids angel costumes include the Angelic Miss costume for girls in Small, Medium and Large, the Lil Angel costume in Child Small 4 to 6 and Medium 6 to 8, a winged angel for toddlers 1 to 2T and a toddler guardian angel. For older kids and adults, add angel wings: there are adult white angel wings, 58 inch full length featherless white wings, adult and women's feather angel wings, kids feather angel wings and an angel wings set. More wings and halos for any age are in capes and wings and angel costumes.

Shepherds, wise men and other roles

The men's garnet wise man costume covers one of the three kings. For shepherds, the shepherd crook comes in cream and brown. Biblical wigs, beards and wig and beard sets from Lacey Wigs work for Joseph, shepherds, wise men and prophets. They come in many colors, including black, brown, blonde, auburn, gray, white and mixed brown and gray, so older and younger characters can look different on stage. Ordering for a group

Pageant directors often order for a whole cast at once. Check each product page for the color and size options, and order every size you need in the same order so the cast matches. Most wigs and beards cost under $55. Orders ship within 1 to 3 business days, and you can call 800-618-6053 if you have questions about colors or quantities before you order.

Finish the scene

Simple robes, sashes and head wraps from your own wardrobe or costume closet fill out the rest of the cast. For other characters in a holiday program, like elves, reindeer or the Nutcracker, see Christmas character costumes.
