Thanksgiving & Pilgrim Costumes

How to choose Thanksgiving costumes

Thanksgiving costumes fall into two groups: pilgrims for school plays and history lessons, and turkeys for parties, parades and family fun. Decide which one fits your event, then check the size chart on the product page.

Pilgrims for school plays

Girls have the most choice, with pilgrim girl costumes from Rubie's in Small, Medium and Large and from Underwraps in Medium 6 to 8, Large 10 to 12 and XL 14 to 16. There is a pilgrim boy costume from Underwraps, listed in Child XL 14 to 16, and a pilgrim woman costume for adults in Small to X-Large, so a teacher or parent can join the class. Check each product page to see which pieces, like a collar, apron or hat, are included.

Turkeys for parties and parades

Turkey costumes are the fun side of Thanksgiving. Rasta Imposta makes an adult turkey costume, a child turkey costume for ages 7 to 10, and adult and child hand turkey costumes. Morphsuits makes an adult turkey piggyback costume that looks like you are riding a turkey. Toddlers can wear the Underwraps turkey costume in 18 to 24 months or 2 to 4T. If you want something quick, the adults turkey hat from Rasta Imposta or the Beistle turkey hat are the simplest options. More headwear is in costume hats, and more funny looks are in funny costumes.

Sizes and fit

Kids pilgrim sizes run from Child Small to XL 14 to 16 depending on the brand. The adult pilgrim woman costume runs from Small to X-Large. The adult turkey, hand turkey and piggyback costumes and the turkey hats are listed without size options. If the costume is for a school play, order early so there is time to check the fit before the performance. Call 800-618-6053 if you need sizing help.

Plan the whole day

A class play might need a few pilgrims and one turkey, while a family party might put the kids in hand turkey costumes and an adult in the piggyback. For more animal looks, see animal costumes, and for the next holiday, browse Christmas character costumes.
